Kristen Stewart Going Glam

On the July 2012 cover of Vanity Fair Magazine is Twilight-saga actress, Kristen Stewart. She looks absolutely stunning in this issue posing at spectacular locations across Paris for photographer Mario Testino. Testino did an amazing job at capturing Kristen in these glamourous Parisian-couture fashions. Her pictorial is very elegant and gives off a modern-day princess vibe. My favorites from the shoot: her cover shot in the gorgeous strapless Armani dress with the beautiful beadwork and her shot in the Gaultier corset with sweet lace detail.

In the Process of My Bedroom Makeover

I'm happy to announce that I'll be re-doing my bedroom over the coming weeks. In this post I want to show what I've purchased and let you know my vision for it at the moment. I haven't actually done anything major to my room in about 3 years so I thought it was time to make it a room where I'll enjoy staying and more of what I want. Of course, it'll have a fashion theme. The colors I chose (after much indecisiveness) are gray, black, white, and red. When it's totally complete I will do a room tour post so you can all see what my new room looks like. I'm really excited and I wanted to share this process with you all. (All of this was inspired by the dress form I recently purchased at a local Home Goods, which is gray with a black stand)

Is Rob Kardashian Putting His Best Foot Forward?

During an episode on the second season of  Khloe & Lamar, Rob Kardashian decided to show the world his passion for...dress socks (Below is a clip from the episode). While I'm not particularly fond of the idea of a sock line, I don't blame him for wanting to start something for himself. Although the sock can be a fun way to "spice up" a plain old business suit, these particular socks look too busy for my taste. The designs and use of color are kind of outdated and 90's looking. They remind me of when I was a teenager and all the girls would wear the most ridiculous socks with all types of odd and brightly colored patterns, designs, and characters. Plus, of all the things Rob Kardashian could have created, he chose socks. Yes, socks are an important part of our daily wardrobe but honestly, who REALLY gives their socks THAT much attention. Personally, if I'm noticing you for what you're wearing, it won't be your socks. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not trying to bash him. Its great that he's getting himself out there and attempting to make his own name instead of relying on his sisters, since he claims he's only doing it for his genuine love of dress socks and not for the Kardashian name. His advertisements are also unappealing to me. They look kind of cheap and cheesy which wouldn't necessarily draw me in. I've read a few other sources like Glamour and some blogs, which have plenty to say about this unusual sock fetish. Many are questioning it, some are hating it, few are into it. If I were him, I would at least try to expand this beyond just socks, but we'll see how this pans out for Rob.

Music Video in Review: Katy Perry Wide Awake

Last night Katy Perry's video for Wide Awake premiered on MTV during MTV First: Katy Perry. Katy has several costume changes throughout her dark, fairytale inspired video. The video begins with the filming of her "California Girls" video. As she goes into her dressing room and removes her wig while looking at herself in the mirror, we are taken on this journey of what she says is "kind of like the labyrinth of my life in the last two years." First, we see Katy in a dark purple corseted dress and lacey cape. The dress itself is sheer, very low cut, and seems to only have one lace sleeve. Next, we see her in a beidge dress that has very intricate details such as the butterflies with gold detail and the croquet-looking layered detail. Then Katy is in a wheel chair being pushed by who she claims is the little girl version of herself. While in the wheel chair, she has on a light blue kimono robe which has purple flower detail. She removes the robe once the little girl wards off two "villans" and underneath is another beidge dress. We only get to see the back of this particular dress as she runs out with the little girl. This dress is plain but has some fabric texturing to it. Finally, we move on to her last beidge dress, adorned with criss-crossing rope and colorful faux flowers to match her flowery fairytale garden setting where she punches a so-called prince charming and lives happily ever after.

Project Runway Season 10

Finally they released a date! Season 10 of Project Runway will premiere July 19. I seriously cannot wait for it to finally begin, it's like the highlight of my summer. I particularly cannot wait for Tim Gunn, he's the most fabulous man and such a great mentor to the designers. I have also been missing the judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia. Although I sometimes disagree with their comments, they truly are great at their job and determining who is "in" and who is "out." I am very excited to see what these designers can do and get to know each of their styles of designing. I went on the Project Runway page on the Lifetime website to find out and read about these new designers. I went through their online portfolios. Based on what I saw, my top three are Ven Budhu, Raul Osorio, and Sonjia Williams. They all have clean lines and use beautiful colors and fabrics in the designs they've made. My absolute favorite is Ven, his use of red and white, touches of floral, and little details are exquisite!

Costume Extravaganza: Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Tonight was a drag filled night at the Palace Theatre. Priscilla Queen of the Desert is a musical filled with hits from the 70′s and 80′s based on the 1990′s film. It tells the story of three drag queens who journey across the Australian outback to finally see Tick's, one of the drag queens, wife and son in Alice Springs after six years. Of course, like in most musicals I've seen, the costumes were fabulous so I'm going to show a few of my favorites.

Fashion Trends: Summer 2012

Summer is quickly approaching. During these hot and sunny days, we welcome new trends and say "au revoir" to old ones. Shoe to Kill will help you to step up your wardrobe and move into the top looks for summer. So let's begin -

Tribal Print

These bold prints are a modern approach to South American, African, and Indonesian patterns. With their different patterns and bright colors, they are perfect for summertime fun. If you haven't attempted this bold style just yet and are looking for an inexpensive way to do so, you can find great tribal prints at shopping locations such as H&M and Forever 21. H&M Top - Crocheted Racerback $17.95

Color Blocking

Color Blocking is basically a combination of two or more solid blocks of color. This is a trend that has been going on for centuries, we just never realized it. Classic color blocking typically consists of black and white, but to make things a little more modern and fun, mixing bright colors is a great way to create a fabulous and playful look for summer.

Floral Jeans

These printed Floral Jeans are a great way to show off your feminine side. They exhibit a vintage and girly look. They're a fun, flirty way to add a little something cute and soft to your summertime outfits. Depending on whether you go for a daring or more subtle approach, these jeans can be paired with just about any solid neutrals or even a bright solid color. H&M - Floral Jeans $29.95

Colored Jeans

Colored Jeans are a fun way to jazz up a summer outfit. Typically we see people wearing regular denim jeans. If you're getting bored with your Levi's, switch it up and pick up a pair of bright colored jeans and pair it with a more subtle top or blouse. Whether you stick to your regular blues or follow the color trend, make sure you choose a cut and color that suit and accentuate your body type. Also a great way to color block!

Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses have been a staple in summer wardrobe for the last few years. They're comfortable, stylish, and give you your own canvas to accessorize. They can be great glammed up for a night out or dressed down for an after the beach look. You can never go wrong with a maxi.

Neon

Since school is almost over, you can drop your highlighters and pick up your own fabulous neon pieces. They're bright, fun, colorful, and can add pizazz to any summertime look. Mix neons with neutrals or black for a perfect pairing. Charlotte Russe - Neon Denim Shorts $19.99

Bright Printed Dresses

Printed dresses that are bright and colorful can be a spectacular way to accentuate your skin tone, especially when you have that so desired sunkissed glow. The prints and colors vary giving you a way to stand out in your own unique way. Forever21 - Abstract Print Dress $22.80

Colored Blazer

Blazers are typically an essential piece in anyone's wardrobe that can be mixed and matched with anything. They're a great way to make any outfit look sharp yet casual. Instead of your standard black or pinstripe blazer, why not try a variety of colors to really make your outfit pop?

Sheer

When wearing sheer clothing, there's a fine line between looking sexy and looking trashy. If done correctly, sheer tops or dresses can be extremely beautiful and flawless looking. Personally, I think they should be worn with a cotton camisole or even a bra in some cases. They're comfortable, flowy, and give a soft, girly feel.

Statement Necklaces

Statement necklaces are a bold and fun way to accessorize. They truly make you stand out while they accent and give your outfit texture. H&M - Necklace $9.95
