Target & Claire's Mini Haul

Hey guys and gals! Summer is right around the corner and what better time than now to pick up a few key items that will make your summer days a little brighter! Today I went on a quick trip to my local Target and Claire's stores to pick up some things and I ended up getting a few things for myself.

Target:

I grabbed these Merona Elaina Braided sandals after trying on a few different pairs. These felt most comfortable and did not leave my foot as exposed as the others. I love the braided design connected to the thong part of the sandal because it gives the shoe a half-Grecian/half-Pocahontas look. The cushion sole makes for a comfortable and semi-supportive shoe compared to most flat sandals. These sandals come in three different colors but I opted for black because that's the color I wear most of. You could easily sport these to a music festival or just wear them for a day at the park; they're very versatile. -Merona Elaina Braided Sandal $19.99

At Target, I also purchased two Sonia Kashuk brushes which are the Spoolie Brush No127 and the Angled Eye Shadow Brush No108. The Spoolie Brush is only $1.99 and the Angled Shadow Brush goes for $4.99. I plan on using both for my eyebrows as I have now become fascinated with creating a stronger and cleaner looking brow. I have yet to use these but was lured in by the positive talk about Sonia Kashuk products.

Claire's:

At Claire's I picked these up from the Katy Perry Prism Collection exclusively by Claire's. They are the Katy Perry Double Prism Pendant Necklace and the Katy Perry Double Prism Stud Earrings. These both come in silver and gold and because most of my jewelry is white gold or silver I chose the silver. The double prism feature makes these pieces extremely attractive as one prism is solid while the other contains a number of rhinestones set into the pendant/studs. Liny Confections Idea

If you read my post about starting my own lollipop and cookiepop business, you probably know all about my plan and that I would be sharing any news with you if I furthered my decision. Well, this past Valentine's Day, I made some treats, as a trial run, for me and my friends for our Anti-Vday Celebration.

Through trial and error, I realized I had to start out with something simple - chocolate dipped cookies to fit the occasion. (Making cookiepops didn't work because the stick kept breaking the cookies and would slide out while I dipped the cookie causing a lot of frustration).

Also, on a side note, rather than calling the company Liny Pops, I've decided to call it Liny Confections as a way of broadening the brand.

This was the finished product, and they were a hit. I hope to make different ones using different types of cookies and for different holidays and occasions. I really hope to begin selling this summer. The treat boxes are from Michael's Craft Store.

Le Chat Perfect Match Mood Gel Polish in Angel's Breeze

On my last trip to the nail salon, I thought I'd try something entirely different: mood gel polish. I was inspired by my best friend who got a mood mani during the previous nail salon trip we took together. (I believe the color she got was called Coral Caress). The color I chose is called Angel's Breeze, from the Le Chat brand that I like, which is a frost color that varies from a light, natural nail color to a pretty, hot pink. The polish is temperature activated. When my hands come in contact with heat, the color is the light, natural color and when my hands come in contact with cold temperatures, the polish transforms into the hot pink color. Many of my friends were fascinated by it and asked me questions. Below you will see a picture of the color change on my actual nails, as well as a video of how the color change occurs with cold and hot water.

Fossil Multifunction Leather Watch

I recently purchased this watch as a gift to myself, along with another one I will review at a later time. I have been really wanting a black watch for some time now and came across this one, which I found to be super elegant and sleek for a leather strapped watch. Normally, I wouldn't go for a watch with a leather strap because in the past I had watches and nine times out of ten would ruin the strap with my excessive use of water. Of course, I was a lot younger and was prone to messing things up so I thought now that I'm older and more responsible, I'd give this a shot.

After about two weeks of wearing it, I have found it to be very functional, comfortable, and stylish. The genuine leather strap is comfortable to wear and does not cause any irritation on my wrist. The stitching on the strap is flawless. The face, bezel, and crystal are gorgeous, but the most intriguing part of it for me is the gold roman numerals and hands because they give it a timeless look. Overall, it's a sleek and sexy watch that can be dressed up or down.

This watch goes for $125 and the shipping was free. You can also purchase interchangeable watch straps to change up the look of the watch. To order or get more information on this watch, click the link to the site below.

JUST GEL POLISH in Tickled Pink from IBD

I recently got my nails done again and this time I went with pink, not just any pink, Tickled Pink. It's a cute color that reminds me of Barbie, bubble gum, and cupcake frosting. This UV Gel Polish is from IBD's JUST GEL POLISH collection. The link is below, although I don't think it can be ordered straight from the website. It is sold on Amazon.com and other beauty supply sites, so it might be easier to purchase it there, if you plan on doing so.

I've had it on for about five days now and so far everything is still in tact. I'm not sure whether its the brand itself or that its just an old bottle that my nail salon still carries but their formula is a lot thicker than the Le Chat gel polish, so the application wasn't as smooth as I would have liked it to be.  If I had to choose between this brand and Le Chat, I'd probably say that Le Chat is my favorite brand out of the two.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Review

I'm sure all of you have been raving about the Naked 3 palette lately, but since I'm so two thousand and late (corny joke lol) I figured I'd review the Naked Basics Palette. Although this palette was released in late November 2012, I recently received it as a Christmas gift. Typically I'm not into over-the-top eye makeup so this palette has been great for me, as I love to play up my green eyes with neutral tones. The 6 beautiful colors rest in their pods in a gradient style from lightest to darkest.
  • Venus - An off-white color with a subtle satiny frost. Perfect for the brow bone and the inner corners of the eyes. Great way to highlight!
  • Foxy - A light yellow beige toned matte shadow, my least favorite as it is barely noticeable on my fair skin tone.
  • Walk of Shame - A matte light pink toned beige. Although very light, this is my go to when I go for a more natural look and want my liquid eyeliner or mascaraed eyelashes to be the focus.
  • Naked 2 - A pale warm taupe matte. Love this for a light contour in my crease or all over the lid when I wear my glasses.
  • Faint - A warm brown matte, great for extreme definition.
  • Crave - A very pigmented off-black matte. Perfect for that smoky eye!
The texture of the shadows is so velvety, which I absolutely love. The packaging is super compact and sleek, easy to slip into a small clutch or in a makeup bag for travel purposes, which is ideal. The cost of it is $28 and it can be purchased at the Urban Decay website, Sephora, or any other makeup retail stores.

Le Chat Perfect Match Gel Polish in "Emperor Red"

Hi all!

I got my nails done yesterday for back to school as my Spring semester began today, and simply because I really enjoy nice, polished looking nails. Being that we are still enduring the cold here in New York, darker and reddish hues are still in season. I chose the color "Emperor Red" which is a pretty satin red color. I really am in love with this color, probably not as much as my favorite color "First Love" but this is a close second. (They no longer carry "First Love" at my nail salon anymore *tears*). The nail salon I go to carries the brand Le Chat Perfect Match. You can visit the brand's website below using the link provided.

Here are some swatches of my nails in "Emperor Red":

Pinspiration

As I was pinning yesterday, I came across a post on lollipops which eventually brought me to diy lollipops with organic ingredients such as tiny daisies and little rose petals. I was pretty inspired and thought of creating a quaint little hand-made, gourmet lollipop and cookiepop business. I hope to start this up in the spring and begin taking orders by the beginning of June. I'm definitely going to start out small but secretly I hope that my own business would be a large part of the near future. My first goal is to get an Etsy shop going if I decide to fully go through with it. Of course, I'll keep you posted if anything develops.

P.S. - I created a little logo earlier and I think it's just the cutest thing.
